Our Weekend..

We had a good weekend. The weather was beautiful! Saturday we dropped the newer camry (I guess I have to clarify which one now that we own two) for an oil change. I then had a check-up eye appointment. I have been trying to find something to treat my chronic dry eyes. I tried the restasis but the burning side effect was just as worse as having dry eyes, so my doctor thought the next step would be eye plugs. So he put in temporary ones to see if they will work, they dissolve in 5-7 days, then I go back for the permanent ones. They were not fun to put in, and so far I haven't noticed a difference in my eyes, so I guess we will see.
We got Emma's new carseat installed into the car. We also went to check out a 2001 Honda Odyssey, it only had 53,000 miles, so we thought it might work for us, but it had been smoked in.
Today, we went to church and picked a few things up from the grocery store. We enjoyed some yummy pizza for lunch, took a little nap, then canned 10 jars of pickles and 1 jar of banana peppers. This is our third year canning pickles and so far every year have turned out yummy (at least we think so), hopefully they would make Aunt Linda proud!
Below are some pics!

Emma and her mommy!

Emma playing with her ball popper, the unconventional way!

Emma in her new carseat!
She isn't asleep in this picture, but all the pictures below are the places I caught her napping in the last few days!

No, that is NOT my foot...its Shane's.

I found Bella sitting on the end table...she nevers sits on it, don't know why she decided to that day!

One of the moms in my bible study group had a baby on Friday, here is the gift I had fun making and giving to her last week:

We leave Wednesday to head back to Nebraska for a wedding. I have lots to do to get ready for it, including finishing up the ribbon on all the bridesmaids bouquets. I still need to find Emma some dress shoes...I can't find any anywhere, and didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a pair online, especially since I can't tell if they will fit...I think she may end up going without shoes!

We should have lots of fun pictures to share next weekend!

Emma's many poses...

I feel like I have been slacking on my blog...sorry. Here are some pictures to make the grandparents happy!

Yes, I am aware I have the cutest kid!

Our first squash for the summer from our garden...its yummy fried with bacon!

We have a busy weekend ahead of us with lots on the to do list! For now, I am off to give Emma a bath and go to bed!

Trying to get caught up...

After this post I should finally be caught up!

A picture of our pickling cucumbers...the ones that still look ok.
This has been a horrible summer for a garden. It has not gotten hot enough, nor humid enough. Shane was able to pick some cucumbers today, and we should have more ready by next weekend and should be able to can a batch or more next weekend.

More Emma pics below. She is such a cutie, which we have always thought, but everyone else tells us the same thing all the time! Everywhere I go, people stop to tell me how cute she is, we even had a guy yell 'cute kid!' out his window driving by us on a walk last week, and today in church while Shane was walking out (Emma and I were in the 'cry room') a couple stopped and told him that his baby was so cute, and they had a 17 month old son they would have to set her up with in the future!

We finally got Emma's dolphin swing hung up (our $2.00 garage sale find). She cried the first time we put her in it, and now loves it!

Last weekend, we had supper at the Grimm's on Friday night and enjoyed good food and good conversation. Lynette and Brad have 2 girls, Alaina (2 1/2) and Emmy (1), and just found out they are expecting a new baby on Feb. 26th - Congratulations Grimms!
Saturday, we had our annual park picnic with our monthly bible study group. This time we met at Shady Creek, when we were driving in, I told Shane to look at this rolling black smoke coming off the water and as we got closer, sure enough a jet ski was on fire!

The jet ski had just blown up minutes before we arrived, and about 15 minutes later the firetrucks and police showed up.

What a charred jet ski looks like.

After the excitement of that died down, we enjoyed games, good food, friends, and beautiful weather!

This weekend, we just did some stuff around the house. Yesterday, we did a little shopping for Shane...everything he owns has holes in them! So we managed to find him a belt, 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of shorts, underwear, socks and a new pair of shoes in less than 2 hours, 2 stores and $120.00! He should be set for 5 years!
Today, we went to church then had brunch at the Muscatine Family Restaurant and enjoyed really good omelets! Shane just got done mowing the lawn and I have been sewing. I have a diaper bag order to finish and ship this week, a gift to sew for friend in my moms' bible study group, and a shirt to make some alterations to. Emma is enjoying a nice and much needed nap!
Well, I think that about catches us up...for now!

Pics of Emma...

Emma is doing great! The last couple of weeks she has been standing and walking along the furniture. Last week she got her top 2 front teeth. And she loves to play with Bella!

Here are some pictures of Emma taken at the beginning of July...I have lots more that I need to get downloaded on my computer.

Just being cute!

Emma having to crawl in and under any space she can get into!

Can you see why I can no longer take a shower with the shower curtain staying closed and a kid not trying to crawl in.

This is where I found my phone one day!

Vacation to Nebraska Part 2

Here are the rest of the pictures from our time in Nebraska.

(we have to say a special thank you to her for all the great hand-me-downs we came home with!)

After a bath one night, Zoe let me braid her wet hair...

so in the morning she would have wavy hair.
I also painted her nails and toenails! What fun it is going to be when Emma gets older!

One night before I took Emma up to bed, she was so out of it, I took the opportunity to...

Cut her hair and paint her toe nails!

Codi and her bridal bouquet
Codi came over to see me while I was home (we always see each other when I am home). She stayed most of the day, we talked, played with Emma, ate supper and watched 'New in Town' (which is quite funny).
I finished up her flowers, so I brought them home with me this trip. She loved them (whew!) and I am so happy! We will be heading back to Nebraska at the end of the month b/c she gets married August 1st!!!
