Eye Drama...

Here is a picture of Emma's adorable pj's she is wearing tonight!
I don't know why I feel the need to have a picture of Emma in almost every piece of clothing she wears...but hey, I have a camera and the cutest baby...who happens to have some pretty cute clothes, so I guess thats why!

Notice the 'mittens' on Emma's hand - she scratched her eye at 4 am this morning (yes, my all night sleeper has decided not to sleep all night the last 3 nights!). I had just laid Emma in her bed and turned the lamp out and looked at her and she was rubbing her eye cuz she was tired and then started screaming! So I pulled her back out of bed and calmed her down until she was too tired to cry anymore and fall asleep. She wouldn't open her eyes and the left one was red and leaking water. So this morning when she woke up, she did so screaming in pain again and her eye was now swollen and she wouldn't open them, and it was still red and leaking water. So I called the doctor, who was able to get us in this morning.
Thankfully, the doctor said she didn't scratch the actually cornea. But that it was red in the whites of her eye, and prescribed an eye ointment to prevent infection and to help heal and sooth. She also gave the 'ok' to start giving her Tylenol.
She also said that regardless of having her nails trimmed or not, babies can still scratch their eyes and she sees it quite often. Her suggestion was for her to wear mittens! Emma's mittens didn't use to fit when she was a newborn, b/c of her skinny wrists...but they stay on now!
Emma also weighed in at 11 lbs 13 oz and was 22 inches long!

Sunday Outfit...

As promised, Emma's new outfit!
Today we went to church...Emma did so well and was so adorable!
We have small group after church, so it puts us being in church from 9 to noon, so afterwards, Shane, Emma and I and a few of our friends who share our love for Las Lomas, went out to eat!
I hadn't had Las Lomas for at least 2 weeks or more and was really craving it!

My Little Mermaid...

As you can see, Emma is gonna be a Mermaid for halloween!
I put her in the costume and she instantly starting smiling and cooing! She must be happy with her mommy's choice, which I am not surprised, she loves bath time! It was either a mermaid or a whoopie cushion (also fitting)!

We will be spending halloween in Lincoln, NE. Shane is taking Friday off and we are heading that way to see his sisters and brother, and my mom and sister w/ her girls will be driving up to meet us! We are also hoping to stop in and see my cousin Tracy and meet her new baby, Taya!

When Emma would move her legs, her little fin would flap...it was so cute!

This picture is for my Gramma Cena. I told her I would post a picture of the cake recipe she gave me! I made it for Bible study last night. The cake actually made it out of the bundt pan whole!

All in all, we had a pretty good week! Emma slept well thru the nights. Last night, she woke up at 4:40am though and was ready to eat, then went back down until 8:30am. I had my last post-partum check-up yesterday. Doctor said everything looks like it healed nicely. I still experience some sharp pains where my hematoma was, and if in a few months I still do, she said she can send me to someone to get a steroid shot down there and that usually takes care of it. I also got my flu shot...which for those of you that know me well...if there can be side effects, I am gonna experience them! I didn't feel well a few hours after my shot, and this morning I woke up with terrible body aches and headache! And my left arm kills, which is the arm where I got the shot! This was my first time getting one, and they say you are more likely to experience side effects the first time...so maybe next year will be better.
I am hoping to feel better tomorrow, so we can make it to church!

The thing Shane and I noticed most this week with Emma, is that she really knows who I am! And definitely knows when its not me holding her! She is also making eye contact for longer periods of time! And her personality just keeps getting sweetier and sweetier!

Well, thats all for tonight! I will probably have pictures to share tomorrow if we make it to church of Emma in a new outfit! Our friends, the Eberhards, who are in our Bible study, got her this really cute outfit. I washed it today, so she can wear it to church tomorrow!

(I wonder if Taya has the same one! It's been really funny...my cousin Tracy and I keep noticing stuff in the pictures we post that both Taya and Emma have!
Tracy - Emma has that same frog rattle from your last post! Did Aunt Sara get it for Taya? Thats where Emma got hers!)

Bring on the 3 month clothes...

Emma is now wearing mostly 3 month clothes! It was sad to see the newborn ones go, but it makes it easier when she has sooo many cute 3 month clothes awaiting her in her closet!
Here are a few pics from the last couple of days.

Emma being her smiley self!

'Please, no pics while I sleep'

Isn't she just adorable!

I think Emma looks like she is driving a motorcycle in this photo!

7 and 8...

...are the number of hours Emma slept the last 2 nights!
Monday night Emma slept for 7 hours straight, I didn't blog about it for fear of jinxing myself.
But Emma slept for 8 hours last night...so I thought that it was for sure 'blog worthy'!
Emma is 7 weeks old today and has such a sweet personality! She loves to smile and be talked to!
Her daddy and I are still in such awe of our incredible, undeserving gift from God!
Well, Emma is waking up...so I best go!

A Blessed Weekend...

Well, the weekend is almost over. We had a very blessed weekend, filled with family, friends, worship and of course, football.

A co-worker of Shane's offered him a ticket and ride to Ames, IA for the Nebraska vs. Iowa State game on Saturday. So of course, he accepted and had a great time! He came home sun burnt and almost without a voice from yelling!

My mom, gramma, Emma and I relaxed on Saturday and rented 2 chick flicks! My mom and gramma headed back to Nebraska today. I was very sad to see them go, but praise God for blessing us with the time together!

Best friends, Heather and Jon, stopped by to see us (mostly, Emma) on their way home after spending the weekend in Lincoln. It was great to see them, as always! We are looking forward to them moving to Lincoln next August, so we can see them even more!

I have a busy week ahead. I need to put my house back together after having company. Lots and lots of laundry to do. Shane and I both need to get flu shots. I need to make my 6 week checkup with my doctor. I have a few more announcements and thank yous that need to go out. And I finally have to go thru Emma's clothes for the first time and put away most of her newborn stuff! We are also hosting Bible study this weekend, so I need to clean the house and plan a meal for that! Well, I better finish this post before Emma wakes up and is ready to eat again!

Below are some pictures for your enjoyment!

Emma's outfit today!
Everyone at church thought she was just adorable!

My smiley girl!

I just had to take a picture of these and post it:
Emma's Aunt Heather got these for Emma (she never seems to come empty handed to our house!)
Why do you ask, did I just have to post a picture (other than they are adorable). I found it quite funny that she brings Emma brown and pink polka dot stuff today and Emma was decked out in a brown and pink polka dot outfit today! It just shows how alike Heather and I really are! Thanks Aunt Heather and Uncle Jon for the cute shoes and dress!

Is this not the cutest baby or what???

Emma turned 6 weeks on Wednesday, and I am definitely starting to see changes in her!
She is so smiley and loves to be talked to and she makes noises back!
She is also going thru a growth spurt, and has been eating lots!
We had our best night yet last nite. I put Emma down at 10:45pm, she woke up at 3:20 to eat, and I had her back down at 4:15, and she didn't wake up until a little after 8am this morning! It was the first morning since before Emma was born that I woke up in my own bed...and not the recliner!

My mom and gramma arrived on Monday and will be heading back home on Sunday. We have really enjoyed our time! Wednesday we went shopping so I could stock up on a few items I was needing. Emma was such a good shopper! We made it to the mall, Sam's Club and Target!

One of my fav pics from today!
Here are some pictures of Emma in her adorable pj's. I was afraid it wasn't gonna get cool enough for her to wear them before she out grew them, but she was finally able to last night! And I think she might not be able to wear them again after a couple of days!

Gramma Cena and Emma!

Emma in her new bed.
Emma had been sleeping in her carseat, but is getting a little too long for it to be very comfortable anymore, and after some drama with trying out a travel swing, while we were at Target, I got Emma another full size swing that is really soft and plush and swings from left to right so that I can have her facing me while I am laying in bed.
I have a bassinet, but I can't manage to lay her in it and feel comfortable...so this is what she will be sleeping in until she is ready for her crib! She really seems to like it, and I only run the swing if she is a little fussy and needs help getting back to sleep!
We are both sleeping better now with it!
Emma sleeping soundly in Gramma's arms.
